Terms & Conditions
Thank you for trusting me with your ceremony!
Each ceremony I write is unique and specifically designed for the two of you, so no two ceremonies are identical. To allow me the time to make your ceremony perfectly you, it is best to provide me with as much information as you can, as early as possible after our first meeting.

My role as your celebrant is to deliver an authentic ceremony that is warm, memorable and legally correct.
My responsibilities to you include confidentiality, privacy and respect for the information that you share. I will do my best to meet your needs. As a member of the Celebrants’ Aotearoa, I am bound by professional ethics and standards and covered by Indemnity Insurance which is required at some venues.
PAYMENT & FEE

My Marriage Celebrant Fee varies depending upon the option you have selected, but will be quoted to you.
An additional travel charge will apply if your wedding is more than 50km from my home (Christchurch).
A non-refundable deposit of $200 is required in order to confirm your booking, and an invoice will be sent to you for this. The balance of my fee is due one month before your wedding date, and a second invoice will be sent for this.
The balance is non-refundable if you cancel within one month of your wedding date.
Note that my fee is subject to change, however any cost quoted to you by me will be honoured.

MARRIAGE LICENCE

It is your responsibility to apply online for a Marriage Licence from Births, Deaths and Marriages within the three months prior to your wedding date. Here is the link.
The fee payable at time of writing is $150. You will receive your marriage documents by email as PDF attachments.
Please check all details are correct and forward them to me, I will print them for your ceremony.
I also recommend you apply for a Marriage Certificate at the same time for an additional $33. This will be sent to you after your wedding once your marriage has been registered. This certificate is often required as proof of legal status for example when you are renewing your passport.

The failure to have a valid marriage license at the time of the event means that I cannot legally perform the ceremony. In this case, I will perform a symbolic ceremony, which will have no legal merit.

I will complete the marriage licence on the day of the event and return it to Births, Deaths and Marriages within ten days of your wedding (typically same day).
Note that you will not automatically receive a marriage certificate unless you request and pay for a certified copy from Births, Deaths and Marriages.
CANCELLATION

The Couple acknowledges that a notice of cancellation of the ceremony must be given to the celebrant in writing, via email, and the Celebrant reserves the right to retain the deposit.

In the unlikely event of my unavailability on your wedding day, I will do my best to arrange for a celebrant colleague to conduct your ceremony, as I have written it, in my place. Your licence will still be valid. No additional fees will be charged.
CHANGES TO YOUR CEREMONY DATE, VENUE OR TIME

The Couple agree to notify the Celebrant immediately in writing via email of any change to the time, date or place of the ceremony. The Celebrant reserves the right to end the agreement and retain the deposit should she be unable to conduct the ceremony due to the change.
The Couple acknowledges that if the ceremony is to be changed to an alternative venue due to inclement weather, then one of the Couple is to inform the Celebrant personally by phone at least 2 hours prior to the ceremony start time, to ensure the Celebrant has sufficient time to travel to the alternative venue.
